Respirable Crystalline Silica Standard

In 2019, OSHA updated the Standard for regulating construction worker exposure to respirable crystalline silica (silica dust) and released OSHA Standard 1926.1153 - Respirable Crystalline Silica. This Standard establishes a permissible exposure limit of 25 micrograms of respirable, crystalline silica per cubic meter of air (25 μg/m3) as an 8-hour time-weighted average.

Table 1 within the Standard lists Equipment/Tasks of concern when working with materials containing crystalline silica. Click here to view Equipment/Tasks and their respective Engineering and Work Practice Control Methods requiring a dust collector system.

As noted within OSHA Standard 1926.1153, dust collector systems must include:
• Filtration with 99 percent or greater efficiency (HEPA), and/or;
• Filter-cleaning mechanism

PulseAir ™ Dust Extractors are designed to meet OSHA Standard 1926.1153. Powered by compressed air, these powerful vacuums incorporate a proprietary, button-activated system engineered to clean the vacuum filter without opening the unit. On demand, a burst of compressed air is injected into the interior of the filter mounted underneath the vacuum lid. Dust particles clogging the outer filter surface are dislodged and settle within the closed container. Coupled with HEPA filtration (included on every model), PulseAir technology minimizes operator exposure to silica dust laden, dirty filters. Other advantages include dramatically higher vacuum performance, un-interrupted vacuum operation, and extended filter lifespan.

Dependable and trouble-free with no motor to spark or burn out, PulseAir Dust Extractors generate exceptional vacuum lift and flow. Operating quietly and efficiently, they are ideal for use with source capture power tools listed within OSHA Standard 1926.1153.
